Chinese New Year 2023 will be the year of the Rabbit. January 21st is New Year’s day.
The Chinese authorities have recently relaxed some of the severest Covid restrictions. This has enabled workers to return to their homelands to celebrate the New Year, some of them for the first time in three years. It is likely that the holiday period will be extended as many people return home early. Some weaving companies have already closed due to having high stocks and no orders.
The question is, will the relaxing of restrictions result in new waves of Covid outbreaks? There are signs, even now, that it will. Another question is, will all the workers return to the factories when the holiday is over?
